Another footstep in Athens: Third FOOTT PRINTTS on site meeting set milestones in the project

Last week we had our third on site meeting which was organized by our Greek Partner Educom+ in Athens.

Day One: Discussing pre-test results

The focus of our third meeting was on the finalization of the questionnaire for our quantitative data collection. The first day started with a detailed presentation of the project partners from the University College of Teacher Education in Vienna about the process of developing the three different questionnaires based on our literature findings as well as the results of the pre-test that took place this spring.

Regarding the structure of the questionnaire the pre-test showed that the questionnaire for the survey needed to be shortened and that questions and answers needed to be more specific. Regarding contents the pre-test already showed that there are similarities and slight differences between the seven European partner countries of the FOOTT PRINTTS project regarding the surveyed persons’ views on in-service teacher training and CPD quality. Concerning the sustainability of CPD, there were significant differences  between Greece and Denmark, whereas there was a huge correspondence between Greece and Germany, for example. The pre-test also revealed differences between the levels: The largest gap was in the participants’ and the coordinators’ opinion about flexibility.

Another new idea is that we prepared another questionnaire in English in order to get more European feedback.

In the afternoon, the team discussed the questions and reworked the questionnaire for the teachers so that necessary changes could be made promptly. The process already showed that CPD is organized differently in the participating countries which made it challenging to formulate questions that apply for all parties.

Day Two: The course is set

On the second day the FOOTT PRINTTS team met in the Ministry of Education where we continued working concentratedly on the questionnaires for teacher trainers and stakeholders.

At the end of the two days the course was set for the quantitative data collection which will start on 1 October and which is another milestone in our project towards our framework for in-service teacher training.
